300tdi rear 4 bolt prop flange

has anyone done this conversion? my rubber coupling has failed twice in four weeks after a suspension lift so decided to convert to a 200tdi rear prop. got an 89 rrc rear axle in my garage so removed the flange from that and fitted it to the disco, on with the prop and all was fine until i tested it.
found out that the rrc flange is 76mm dia at its widest part which should slide into the oil seal whereas the discovery 300tdi flange is 69mm.

so anyway the question is what flange will fit into the discovery diff?

problem solved after a phone call to rimmer bros,
for anyone who wishes to do the same, rimmer bros do a four bolt flange kit with oil seals etc. for the 300tdi axle about £35 for pattern parts and £60 for genuine parts

Glad you sorted it, but it might only be short term,scorpion props (double uj's) seem to be the way to go for this sort of problem.

I would be interested to know if you were getting vibrations,bearing noise with your lift,prop diff angle at around 55mph as I have a mate who is with out a lift cos his diff is out of line with his prop after a slight "wall argument" with one of his rear wheels!

hi, i've had very little noise/vibration from the back prop but you could see the rubber coupling was distorted at all times.
the front however is causing vibration as the prop seems to be at its fully extended length, i've seen someone on ebay selling propshaft spacers to counteract this effect but haven't heard of anyone using them so don't know if it would help.

I assume yu mean fully extended at its normal parked ride height - that wud leave yu no allowance fur movement whilst motoring. It needs fixing immediately.

I think that you have just confirmed that my mates rear diff flange bearings are knacked cos his makes a right racket:eek: at that prop angle, his rubber coupling is well distorted to.
 
Hi, its like i said on my post I've not heard of anyone using them i just saw them for sale and wondered. it turns out in the end that the splines in my front prop were badly corroded at one end allowing the prop to slide in and out normally but not fully extend. bought a refurb prop and all seems ok after 6 months
