Hi Guys, disco 300tdi not starting, I've fitted new fuel lines, new lift pump,new fuel stop solenoid, there's power to the glow plugs, which are new but still buggered, can anyone help cos its cold walking to work
 
I had a similar problem with mine. I was getting fuel at the injectors but it turned out not enough fuel. and it was the sender in the tank that wasn't letting enough through. I'd check the fuel sedimentor first though it is located on the inner side of the chassis rail just behind the rear wheel, it just screws off. It may have water in it. What makes you think its a fuel problem? If the engines not getting enough air you would have the same symptoms! Then it may be the intercooler pipes perished on the inside.
 
is it auto or manual? does it puff any smoke out of the exhaust when its turning over?
if its auto there is a mod that you can do but you will have to do a search on the forum on how to do it.
if its a manual and it puffs smoke out when trying to start it is probably duff heater plugs or heater plug relay so you will need to see if you have power to the heater plugs when you switch on the ignition.
 
I've checked today if fuel is getting to injectors, and just to baffle me Even more there is no fuel getting through. I hope I don't need a new injector pump, any ideas guys
 
try it with plunger removed from the solenoid ,have a look in oil filler hole are valves moving when its cranked,have you got fuel at front banjo on injection pump when cranked
 
you have but that doesnt mean it works ,front banjo holds fuel feed pipe to injection pump its often a good idea to fit a clear plastic pipe in this pipe somewhere between pump and filter so you can see if theres any air in fuel the front banjo is also the best place to bleed system
 
Hi Jamesmartin, just had a look and took off the front banjo and no fuel getting to the injector pump, so does that mean no fuel to filter. Is the sender in tank knackered?
 
the big issue with sender is usually rust on the steel pipes allowing air to enter feed to lift pump (lhs pipe)sedimentor can block or corrode and let air in ,but have you piped lift pump up corectly ,is it working, it contains 2 one way valves ,is lever on top of cam not under it
 
Pumps fitted correctly so it engages with camshaft, the pipes on the top of the sender were a bit rusty so I used petro patch to make sure no air was getting in. Worked fine when fitted new fuel lines then wouldn't start the other day
