Having probs with the key fob locking/unlocking on the noo 300TDi.

The fob led is flashing ok - so I think the battery is ok, but the fob seems to be intermittent. Sometimes it locks but won't unlock. If yu then unlock with the key, the alarm goes off.

Is this symptomatic of the infamous spider problem?

Yes. It could also be that the fob battery is getting weak or your fob is getting cold so the battery hasn't got the power for it to work. I'd start with changing the battery and/or keeping yer keys somewhere warm and see if that helps before chasing spiders around.

If you have an LED on the fob then you have a single button fob as the two button ones don't have an LED that if it's a genuine Land Rover fob.
So a single buitton systen doesn't have a 'spider', and if u have to replace the fob it's user programmable so no probs there.

thanks discool.
Maybe I should have put more info - am used to peeps on here knowing my motors and their "foibles".

yup - its an "M" reg disco1 300TDi with single button key fob. It wasnt working when I got the car and I resynced it - it started working for a week or so, but now seems to be intermittent.
Car battery has been flat a couple of times recently. Not sure if that means I need to resync it again, but I would have expected it to either work or not work - not work occasionally (normally it locks, but wont unlock for ages )
I did try syncing the fob from the "convertable", but no luck at all - i assume that its a different frequency?

Have changed the fob battery and will see how it goes.

Ok Mr TMHM as u know with the fob there's a micro press switch so that can be iffy, or it may have become detatched at the base from it's PCB, or it maybe just that the battery contacts are no touching sometimes.
I do know that a decent (fully charged) vehicle battery helps, when I had my old battery it was try and try again but now there's a new battery and is Wack! with all the doors unlocking and form a longer distance, well a bit longer:)

The thing to think about is having two fobs then you would be able to, go compare.

i dont believe the fob circuitry is faulty, as the led flashes every time the button is pressed - it just dont do out :(. Well - it mainly dont do owt, but just occasionally it does

Yes u did mention that i forgot ooops, so that's out of the window.

You say "resync" is that the same as programming when the procedure has to be done in 8 seconds or so with the bonnet open ignition switched on etc, always worth doing that again also powering down he alarm ecu for a minute or two.
Worse case the fob can loose it's tune (off frequency) then the fob will require a referb according to Remotekey .
