300tdi Disco Suspension bushes

To bush or not to bush, this is the question? Whether to suffer the springs and potholes of outrageous road surfaces: or to take up spanners against a pile of splitting rubber, and by sawing end them?-.....

I could go on but 20 people have logged out already.

Seriously my bushes are splitting and I wonder how bad they need to be before changing is necessary and would welcome comments regarding pros and cons of oem, pattern or fancy heavy duty items. Can they be replaced individually or in pairs or is a whole set advisable?

Is this an easy undertaking? Are there any pitfalls to watch out for?

if they are splitting chgange them ,the ones you must change both sides at a time ,are the 2 radius arm to chassis at front and 2 trailing arm to chassis bushes at rear,only fit oe standard type bushes ,or use poly except one piece cotton reel type ,the 2 peice type are easy to fit /change later if needed

I replaced all mine recently with oem, was worth the effort its a much improved ride over shagged perished ones, do them in pairs as a minimum, i started with the panard rod, then front radius arms, then rear radius arms and finally all shocks, it is worth the effort.

as for oem, original or poly well i went for a mix of good quality oem and one or two original originals from the stealer just coz out here in Poland the parts places dont always have all the stock you want ina hurry, i could have gone poly but as i did mine piecemeal i didnt fancy spending the extra of getting them individually, i managed most of them with just a vice and some hefty hammers but a good press is essential for some of em im afraid.

Poly bushes seem to me to be mentioned as if they are a holy grail type thing.Are they better or are we back to the piece of string?>
