300TDi Diff Lock

Hi all. Have been working my diff lock / low high lever about trying to free it up. Low and High are getting there, I can now select them easy enough. I can now move the lever over to the left too, but cannot get any Diff lock light on the dash.

So, can someone confirm :

Should the diff lock light come on at all when first switching on the ignition, ie to show the bulb is working (doubt it)

When you go into Diff Lock, can you go straight from H or L, ie straight to the left with the lever or do you have to go through the neutral point and then over?

not on ign, and when you move it over in any position.

it's a really simple system. one pos wire going to a switch by the selector on the lt230. then an earth going from the other side of the switch to a nearby bolt.

if you locate the pos wire, discon it and stick a multi on to see if it's getting 12v.

then stick continuity setting (or resistance) on the multi and connect one side to earth lt230/chassis/whatever) and the other side to the pos plug coming from the lt230.

it will show 1 when the diff gear is to the right (diff off) and beep and show a lower number when you whack the stick to the left (in diff)

if that doesn't work, then either the switch is dead, bad eart, or the selector isn't moving over.

also don't forget to check your bulb

Sometimes the diff lock light on mine doesn't come on until I've driven a few metres.
