Hi this is my first post on here :)

Have just bought a 1997 300tdi discovery with auto gearbox.

The gear shift selector/indicator for the auto gear box has ripped and has left a hole where the selector goes through the gear indicator box.

Anyone have any idea where i can get a replacement gear indicator box from??
Have scoured ebay for the past couple of hours and there aren't any on there??

the indicator should still be attached to the shaft iirc. Its a piece of plastic with a square top but may have slid down.

Had the same problem with my old import and managed to get the indicator in place but the plastic sheet was already torn and is as rare as rocking horse poo to find second hand unless you fancy making your own. Decided against it myself as it wasnt worth the hassle.
 
check the number first but btr9926lnf is box illuminator £70 ish new, but you did used t be able to buy new scroll ,slots over lever,but my micro cat is down at moment
 
Been looking on ebay everyday to see if i can get a secondhand gear selector indicator box - but having no luck!
Does anyone know if a TD5 autogear selector indicator will fit???

Is it only the plastic slide part which moves with the lever which is broken.?
read this on a forum somewhere about how to replace only the plastic piece.
Try a search on different forums and if i can find it again I will post it.
BIt drastic and expensive if you only need the plastic slide piece.

Wish I read this earlier. I took all the selector gubbins off my disco I broke and have the bits in my garage for sale.

If the eBay sale falls through let me know.
 
When I bought mine, it never had the plastic strip showing D P R etc, so I made one up by printing it out on overhead projector plastic. Works really well, and esp for costing me nothing...I did change the bulbds to LEDs tho to reduce the heat produced.

If its this part you are after, let me know, as I printed out a load and sure I will have the odd one spare somewhere in the house....
 
Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but the plastic slider on my wifes 300 tdi auto torn itself up today. I don't have 80 quid spare for a new illumination box i just need the plastic slider, is there a part number or does anyone happen to have one? Thx
 
I have a spare selector with the sliding plastic but the feet have 2 broken lugs where i did some damage replacing the body on the chassis.
 
Hi guys,

I was just reading this thread and my question is, how do you get the box off the gear shift - mine has a "T" shaped handle but I can find no grub screw or anything to get it off.
