Christmas Eve and needed the Disco. Not even a click when key turned and no sign of life whatsoever except ignition light. Main Battery, Starter motor, new engine ?? ......Aargh. We've all had these nightmares.
Put a question into Google and after looking at a few suggestions I had remembered that I was having to get closer and closer to the vehicle for the key fob buttons to work. Fob battery clearly on its way.
Google answer included putting a new battery into fob as there may not be enough power to mobilise the immobiliser on the vehicle ... security device that stops it being nicked.
So new battery from my Alladin's cave, fingers crossed, low and behold it works. Fob now operates from a few metres away and engine starts as before. Brill.
Put a 3072 battery on your Christmas list if not too late.
