Just read on tinterweb that a man put a 300tdi in and used his 2.5 n/a wiring loom (no ecu)and it fired up first time.

If that's so then I want one and might buy one with the money from the sale of the V8.
Is it so??

What we lookin at as early?
The one I have my eye on is 1995 with rebuilt head and rebuilt gearbox.

Will need the wiring loom and ecu then.? maybe..

Best I have ever got is 29mpg..lots of motorway miles at 55 to 60, normal is about 25mpg..other people will tell you they get more...but as a mechanic said to me "they are lying":)

you will need to change the box too as lt85 v8 different to lt85 diesel. Sad day dumping the v8:mad: and on lpg

The motor on offer is still in the Disco (coming out at weekend) and will be with both boxes attatched.
I'm just remembering that the gearlevers come up in a different place, not worried about that unless it will present a big problem.:)

you aint got an auto g/shift surround i can have av ya? :D
Sorry , manual boxes.

It is a sad day, deciding to take the V8 out but it needs carbs as mine are buggered.
I've set em up but there is just too much wear in them and the needle valves in floats bowls stick cause of running on gas and then it runs on four or it floods. They use all the oil out of the dashpots in 40 miles or less so that will give an idea of how worn they are. Needles and jets are worn too.
Twud be a loverly engine with new carbs as it can run like a sewing machine at times and it's quick with 10.1 heads off 4.6 and a 4.6 cam, revs a lot too, 7 grand if the rev counter is to be believed.
New choke cable broke today as well, pulled the knob off it as the choke levers are stuck on the carbs, (again).

Needs must and the cheapest way for me to get a usable land rover is to go diesel and pay for it by selling the V8.:(

Is the 300 a bigger engin then or just an update from the 200:confused:

Just hopin that it will pull the 110 as well as the V8 does:rolleyes:

The 300 is the same size as the 200...supposed to be more refined, quieter...can't remember about power output, same I think.
I don't think it will pull as well as the V8, especially if the V8 was used with a manual box and the 300 will be with with an auto

he said it was MANUAL,

the power feed to stop soliniod is ALL thats needed,

i belive ALL manual 300tdis are ECUless apart from the autospastic?

my 95 300tdi manual just has the one wire to the back of the pump and it will easily do 30 mpg an i am tight arsed mechanic an keep a close eye on its consumption best is 35 on a run up the m1 at 55 mph from junct 29 to 36. only reason i got the disco was cos its better on fuel an cheaper to run than the paj i had before.
