300 tdi indicator towing warning light

hi,
just a small niggle my last 300 tdi when you turned the indicator on the towing symbol(green towing symbol) on the dash came on for 1 flash (I presume to tell you the bulb was ok) then worked when you operated whilst towing.
my new one does not work period !
I have tried a new bulb and fitted a towing buzzer (which I know is a legal requirement)!
my new one is 1997 perhaps they have stopped it on the later ones ????
ps all the bulbs are the correct wattage

Flasher is NOT a legal requirement it's an option you can have visual OR audible or both if you want but if the trailer light works then a audible warning is not required.

It's normal they flash once when not towing, m e doesn't flash more than once when I am towing

The correct function is the trailer symbol flashes once when not connected to the trailer system but continuously when it is connected but only flashes once in the event of a trailer bulb failure.

Believe me it doesn't know if your towing or not

check your flasher relay, mines a fender 300tdi, but had the wrong flasher unit fitted, so the "tell tale" did exactly what yours does, naff all.
Fitted the proper flasher, all is well (off the top of my head, a 2x22 + 2x5 + (2X22) the last in brackets denotes the trailer bit...
Can get the part number off the flasher later of you need it.

Wasnt the cheapest of flashers, but prefer it to the buzzer things...
