Hi all. Just a small problem (i hope) this time. Bertie is running lovely and did over 1500 miles last month but i have noticed the temp nearly in the red on long uphill sections. so..... I flushed the system and because i had a new spare water pump i fitted one and a new thermostat. Result, not a bit of difference. I fully flushed the rad 6 months ago when i did the cambelt ( how easy is that on a 300! only took me about 2 hrs and i'm a self confessed numpty ) so am I looking at the head gasket next? she uses no water and doesn't budge of the middle of the gauge unless she is towing uphill. (I'm running 35" BFG's and a standard defender box.
Cheers all once again.

what condition are the rad fins in ? have they corroded away or maybe even blocked with mud and dead animals ?

Do you have loads of ****e hanging off the front of it blocking the airflow to the rad? steering guard? etc. I would imagine towing uphill running 35s is putting alot of stress on the engine. If your restricting the airflow to then that could be the cause.
