i have a 1996 disco with a 300 tdi auto that has fuel up to the stop solenoid on the pump but nothing at the injectors it also has no power to the pump.
if i connect 12 v to the solenoid it clicks but still no fuel at injectors
any idears
thanks:

i have just looked at taking the injector pump off is it as bad as it looks ?? as mind is an auto can i just change the pump or will it have to be of another auto

presumably yours isnt edc so any other pump would fit if pump has plastic cover over stop solenoid (immobiliser)this can be broken off and used as std solenoid ,you would need to remove rad and front timing cover easy enough ,and set timing before removing and replacing pump ,bleed new pump on front feed banjo bolt 13mm socket and injector pipes at injector before starting

as it has a wire going to no4 injector and a wire going to a censor in the top of the head i assume it is the edc model

you could either convert to manual operated pump but you will loose 15 horses ,i would be temted to get pump repaired at fuel injection specialists, ring a few first

took the stop solenoid apart and now it is working so it might not be the pump.
i'm still getting some bubbles at the bleed screw but i did get some fuel on no1 injector
so not sure were to go next it also has a dead short on the fuse for no4 injector fuse

i will look at the filter housing as i have checked just about every thing else,
i have even connected a fuel can with pipe to the new lift pump
do you know if it will or could suck air in on the return pipes from injectors to pump

Hi m8 I've just changed the injection pump on my 300tdi auto with the fly by wire pump and its not a bad job ,it's just like putting on a new timing belt but removing the pump as well .
yes it will draw air through the leak off lines
can you tell me what the symptoms where that pointed you to the pump and what other thing you have tried ?

Hi
I cleaned the fuel system, new lift pump, new filter, pumped fuel up to bleed on filter,
powered up stop on injector pump(this clicks), cranked her over had fuel at no1 but nothing at 2,3,4.
no4 has a wire that i think goes to fuse box under bonnet, this fuse had a dead short but been told that if i put 12v to stop it should still run
not sure what else to try.I have landy man looking at in the next few days hope he has better luck

no. 4 injector is used for timing and if you use an ohm meter across the 2 terminals inside the plug from the injector you should see about 100ohms the wire plugs into another connector then goes to the ecu
if you have time you might read my problems ,

i have just been told that it is a electrical problem and the loom under the bonnet will have to be taken out and checked this sounds like it might cost me (they reckon it will take about 10 hours to do)

I've got a wiring diagram for the 300tdi with the edc pump which shows the ecu pinout location so the wiring could be checked from the ecu to the components with out removing the harness .
did the man who checked it out say which circuit he suspected ? seems like a lot of time to do it if its only one component ,also normaly it tends to be at the begining or the end of a wire where its terminated that gives the problem ( mind what do I know I can't fix mine ,going into the garage tonight to try with my wiring )

thanks they did not say but it has no power to the pump i will let you know what they do hope to here tomorrow

Hi Guys, had same or very similar problem with my wagon. All symptoms same & would'nt start, Landy man came primed lift pump 3-4 times & away she went!! was gobsmacked all was fine till want to start next morning tick over was very lumpy. Landy man back tonight, cracked injector nuts inturn while on tick over, with no4 open running ok so must be problem with no4, wires to no4 had been cut & joint remade with crimp spade connectors which were'nt done very well, remade joints properly & away she went running sweet as.:p:p
Hope this helps.

sorry for the delay went away for 2 weeks now they say it is the ecu amr 6228 has any one got one of these for sale as im not so sure and dont want to spend a fortune on one if it is the pump and not this
