Hi,

I just bought a 1996 300 Tdi today. Since I've got home and parked it out front the alarm has been going off for no reason. It is a windy night but no other alarms on the street are going off.

It's got the infared unit with 2 buttons for locking and unlocking.
I've tried locking with the key only but that also seems to activate the alarm.

Any ideas what is causing the problem?

How can I disable the alarm?

Thanks in advance.

here you ant got any dangly girly thing around it ie air freshner on a peice of elastic thay could make it go off i had this last summer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the problem was a bloody fly............ bloody good internal sensors ........... could be the wind moveing it slightly ................

Hi,

It's dry at the moment. But is quite breezy here in cumbria tonight. No girly air freshener yet!
The problem is that I've had to leave it unlocked - anyway to bypass the alarm?

Thanks

pull out the sensor mount above the passenger front door and check for water, give it a wipe if its damp. also you might want to check for water on the loom connectors under the front passenger seat- discos can get pretty damp!!! :D

check the bonnet and doors for movement while your out in the cold, could be just a sensor switch playing up with the wind. :D

thought by locking with the key turned the alarm on but not the movement sensors??....dunno.....might be thinking of something else!!!!!!!

Hello,

I tried locking the disco with key only, turning it to lock position for 5 seconds. This seems to do the trick and the indicators don't flash so I guess that this disables the alarm. I left my dog in the back today and there were no probs.

Thanks for your help, looking forward to finding out more info on here, this is my first landy!!

One thing, my insurance policy doesnt cover my landy being stolen if the alarm isnt set if it has one. Check yours, last thing you want is to wake up and find no landy. But for the insurance company not to pay you.
