3 series landrover ignition light flicks on/off

I have a friend who has recently bought a 3 series landrover which was running and starting fine for a week or so. It has since sat in a barn, but when we tried to start it, the red ignition light on the dash flicked on and then off and nothing happened. No click from the starter... just sounded like the battery was flat.

The ignition light would flick on and off maybe twice when we tried it then after that the light would not even come on. Its done this a few times when we have tried to start it.

What would be the most common fault for this? and where should i start? (The battery is new and has 12v)

you need to post this in series section and check battery and connections

Repost in the series section. 12 volts is quite low for a battery - if it's new it's firked or not properly charged.
