Just doing mine at the mo and struggled to get off without removing the sump, so I gave up and removed it !!

I have done a timing cover without removing the sump but to be honest it is better if you drop the sump. Getting the sump out can be a bit of a fiddle, easiest way is to jack the chassis up to give you clearance over the front axle, I have used a small bottle jack for this then placed big axle stands under the chassis rails.

thanks for the replys lads,i,ve managed to get it off without taking the sump off.the two studs that go through the front of the sump screwout, well they did on mine:eek:.oh well its off now cheers
