Hello
My disco 1 97 year Japanese re-import has rimmer bros tubular manifolds which do not have cats so struggles with emissions on petrol - fine on lpg.
I want to put it back to standard but unsure which manifold to use. The VIN starts with TA196 which according to rimmer bros website means it uses a disc 2 manifold err7393 and err7494. Is this correct?
Cheers

From my Google search it appears to be the correct part numbers from other suppliers as well so used on D1 & 2s, including the D1 3.5 engine.
When the TA VIN D1 was built err5023 RH side and err5024 LH side were the part numbers, I expect obsolete now.

Hello
Thanks for the reply, I have found on eBay a set of used manifolds from a rr classic 3.9 serpentine, would they fit?
Many thanks again.
Don't know for sure, but the info i’v gained over the years that the fitting to the head is straight forward its when fitting the the vehicles exhaust pipe work and then just on one side with the outlet position and bend of the Y pipe on the side, which is also different even with versions of the D1.

Better to stay with a complete D1 system for your for your disco at least the manifolds and the Y pipe fitted with both the cats.
Part numbers for the RR manifolds are etc5809 & etc5811.

Not an option is it? Two new manifolds at £300-£400 each then the Y pipe with the cats it more than my D1 is worth :D
Perhaps the other option is pop into an exhaust specialist, they are about and provide custom exhaust systems, see what there’s available if you keep the existing manifolds and get them to provide and attach the rest of the exhaust system parts that u require.

A disco breaker-recycler that scraps engines would let u have the parts u require maybe, before the V8 block went to the crusher.
Are you manifolds stainless and wrapped? Worth a few bob perhaps :)

Have you considered a generic CAT and find somewhere to fit it in the system to help?

Just a thought.

struggles with emissions on petrol - fine on lpg.

How badly does it struggle? just make sure its always tested on LPG. Although I do understand the want to comply:).

Hi all and thanks again for advice. The current manifolds are SS and wrapped with insulating material, the system is as - the Rimmer bros tubular manifolds and 'sports' system (bit of a laugh on a disco) and was fitted when I bought the car, bought because it had a fairly new turner top hat engine and was a Japanese reimport with no rot, still true. In petrol it misses the emissions by a small margin but no problem on gas. The exhaust now is eyewatering to replace, though my local LR specialist told me not to bother until the head gaskets blow (when not if, though they have been ok for the previous 3 summers going to Toulouse and back towing my bikes on a trailor and the odd Pyrenees col including the tourmalet).
So upshot is I will wait until something else goes wrong and do what it takes then.
Cheers again
Hamush
