I Have 3.5 v8 high comp disco engine that i want to supercharger what i want to know is best suprrcharger that isnt going to completely ruin my engine, what manifolds i need, do i need new carbs from my su's etc.
Cheers

5-6 psi with intercooler "should" be perfectly safe

a centrafugal system gives good high end gains but lacks the bottom end boost compared to a roots type like an eaton M112.

no idea on the carbs tbh - check on the v8 owners forum for more info

are the roots type usually wet fitment like on the american racing stuff? i remember a thread a while back about modified carbs to suit pressurised applications to run a dry fit charger.

obvs rotrex/similar would be dry fitment, but as above the geared type blowers can pump much more air at low end, that's where i'd be at unless you've got a highly tuned motor in already that can accept 8k.

cheers

surley your ****ing in the wind with high comp ratio supersharging you need a much lower comp ratoi. I thought you were taking the **** at first.

not specifically - slow long as its mapped and cooled correctly then low boost will be fine on standard pistons. the comp ratio of the v8 is not that high so 4-5psi would be fine. going higher would require engine work however or your ignition would be really retarded and you would be ****ing 99ron down your exhaust lol.

people supercharge much more modern engines with compression ratios way into the 10s without issues.

pick up an old low comp motor, slap you newer heads on it with composite gasket and youve got a nice cheap 'if it blows up **** it' low compression engine :)

and..

indeed..bad fett..bad man

both talking ****e..have either of you tried it...?bet answer no..

i run 10.5:1 cr 8psi boost m112..perfect..

yeah but yours is a modern 32 valve motor with lots of electrickery to keep it running sweet- it can change its timing as you drive for one. my point was hes not gonna get huge gains for his piles of cash supercharging his high comp rv8

plus you have spent like 20k on yours and done it all yourself, most peeps do one or the other
