If you have points in the dizzy then you will have a condenser in there too

This is one with the points

If you have a good spark then chances are condenser is good. worth changing anyway ,next thing is the spark at the right time?
Could be retarded ignition or maybe vac pipe off, advance plate not advancing.

Have you tried carb cleaner sprayed into inlet when cranking, if no go then spark not at correct time, if it fires then fuel not getting into engine:)

Is the ignition on when cranking? possible to get wires on wrong and shut power off while cranking, just a thought

Tried easy start direct to air inlet on carb nothing and the fuel is coming out fast and well Im not sure on the condenser I will have a look. Damn v8 should have done the 200 tdi conversion lol

if it wont rev oucl be timing well out but would be odd if it was working ok before. how were the dashpots? might be a carb rebuild needed, floats could be sticking or nethin

ok so after 2 hours tinkering here is what i know fuel is good to the carbs no start put a bit of fuel in the carb starts lovely maybe blocked jets bit more history of the car before i got it the old owner hadnt started it for 18 months

Should have started on carb cleaner if starts on petrol

needle valves in float chambers could be stuck and not letting petrol pump through, floats could be sticking if petrol had dried out and it was stood a while they will be corroded.

I would take bottoms off carbs and clean and set floats, make sure it all works, you can clean jets while you are in there.

And are you drawing old petrol from the tank, it goes off ??

Its fresh fuel in the tank and pretty much a whole tank lol I thought about stuck needles myself as it seems strange that its affecting both carbs thanx again for your help

Are the needles on springs?

Yes little sprung loaded valves in float chambers, mine used to stick open after a while on gas because no petrol in chambers, yours had petrol in so may be stuck shut

two checks

fuel delivery to carbs drop the fuel connection from the carb from the tank crank it and see if theres a delivery .help needed and caution petrol is :flame: dont burn the bast**d if fuel delivers then check the bowls and the filters , if it doesn't then check the pump .

reconnect all hoses . proceed to check 2

check number 2

have you got a propane blowtorch .
Dont light it
direct propane into the carb opening and crank it If it trys to fire then its fuel related . propane blow torch = raw gas conversion
