hi all finally got the beast running and all it took was a new starter solenoid but now the problem is keeping it running on choke it is fine but go anywhere near the loud pedal and it struggles and dies on me but starts again no probs, here is the history i have been standing for 7 years but started from time to time so please help me

Could be vac advance seized or the diaphragm split not allowing the ignition to retard when you boot it.

Or the vac pipe off/ perished etc.

Got to be timing or mixture weak:)

Air getting in carb via perished rubber crank vent pipes
 
7 yrs!!

refurb cabs,(stuck piston,mo oil etc) replace/check dizzy cover.leads,points, all pipes from head or cabs..ie anything breather /air related...
 
there is a pipe from the left rocker cover (as you look form the front) that is gone and the nipple looks blocked but not bad for a gift lol thankyou all i will have a better look tomorow

Prob drawing air in to carbs from there and weakening the mixture.

If it was older I would also say condenser but you are probably on electronic ignition:)
 
may just set fire to it now been trying to get it started for 4 hours today no start fuel is good not sure if spark is much good cleaned the points in the dizzy cap now getting really ****ed off HELP

Does it have a condensor , if so that's probably your problem
 
ok back at it and all i can say is good spark but no fuel seems to be getting through the carbs so meh and where is the condenser? sorry not used to the rover v8
 
pump is running really sweet took the fuel pipe off the carb's loads of fuel just wont start driving me mad i got a good spark from the plugs i am at a compleat loss any body wanna come have a look i can make tee and coffee of i have beers
 
Dam thing is in bittern lol I have checked them and they both have oil in I dont even know where surf is lol
 
well if you top it right up with either atf or 10w40 and just put the damper back in it will push out what it doesnt want and get rid of that oxidization on the tops lol :p

how sure are you about that fuel pump, what kind of pump is it? if its a tap tap then the diaphragm might be split and it wont pump under load
