3.0 td6 rr starting probs

I have a 52 plate td6 rr and short journeys not a prob, drive the car for half an hour and it reaches normal working temp and stop to do shopping for an hour , on returning the car turns over not fireing,then leave for an hour or two starts no prob,sometimes the engine will run on for a couple of secs when you switch off please can anyone help .

Depends what your shopping for

make sure your electric fuel pumps are working (one in the tank and possibly a booster half way up the chassis(if its the same as an x5 with same engine)had problems with the x5 i was fixing sometimes would turn over for ages before it would fire up,sometimes would fire straight up,turned out was the in tank pump failed.

Check the primer pump under the car near tank pass side look for hatch two bolts and listen to the pump

Have the ecu fault tested

Have the injectors leak back tested you could have a failed injector

I had the pump replaced two years ago last time I had it plugged in it threw up a crank sensor code I don't want to throw money at it until I know what it is thanks for replying
