Right then guys, thought I'd leave a quick post as I'm currently doing this. After dropping the k series, gbox and ird yesterday I took the gbox and ird to work (where the turbo t is sitting) and found that the IRD wont bolt up to the 600ti gearbox but it looks like I can make the k series gearbox fit the t series by cutting a notch out of the alloy plate on the end of the engine and either welding a lug on the freelander gearbox or welding an extra mounting onto the adaptor plate. 3 of the 4 bolt holes line up anyway. My next step is to bolt the gearbox up to the engine to see if the ird will clear the block. I need a loom and ecu for the engine if anyone knows of one, I am also missing the boost control solenoid. Another interesting fact is that the front diff is in the ird, not in the gearbox as I first thought. Does anyone have the gear ratios for the freelander gearbox and the 600ti gearbox as I want to use the lowest 1st gear out of the two.

Surely, if you are having trouble connecting to the K series gearbox then an early L series diesel box will work without mods as stated above.

Having owned a 620ti in the past it will make life great fun in a freelander. I always wondered how this work in the Land rovers using the same block (freelander and discovery)

I'm thinkin it might be good to fit an L series gearset to a 1.8 turbo, you'd get more torque resistance and could therefore use the full monty power remap. It would also improve fuel economy because of the higher gearing, I think.

So could you bolt the L series box to a K series, or would one have to remove all the innards of the L series box and put it in the K series bell housing? Could that be done?

The best gear set is that used by the ZS180 sadly the box itself won't fit a Freelander if you want the keep with 4x4. The only option would be build a 1.8 box with the uprated internals.
