Newbie back again after doing the Spanish version of green-laning, which is dust/rock-laning and it has worked great so far. I'm looking forward to the time (which I know will come eventually) when I can drive it over things that go bang under the car and not whince. But in the meantime I whince happily.
One question though and bear with me as my mechanical knowledge is nil. There's a hefty tube that runs from the radiator area into a black box type thing on top of the engine (something to do with the turbo?). Just where it connects onto the black box I am suffering from some sort of oil leak. I tightnened the connection around the tube and took it to my garage. He also tightened the same connection and said it was "engine vapour",... that's my translation from Spanish. The tightening has done no good and I'm going to take it back on Monday but before I do I thought some ideas from here would help. I don't know if this has anything to do with it but sometimes and between 2000 and 2500 revs I notice a very slight power loss feeling for a second or so. It's probably is the turbo kicking in but I think it's worth mentioning.
Any ideas

here's the photo (I think)
That was a polite way of agreeing that I have no mechanical knowledge, right?
thanks a lot.

Ok rory can tell its a td4 the tube is the intercooler ta manifolfd , ok its hard ta tell but if the oil is coming out of the tube ,then it should not have any oil in it so , engine breather filter could be blocked, but and again hard ta tell it looks like that oil is coming obove that , if so check ya oil filler cap is tight, others will comment , best oh luck. . .

thanks ming, thanks mondo.....
I'm pretty sure the leak is coming from the tube so I'll have a look at your advice.....
I'm sort of surprised that the lr mechanic looked at it and just tightened the connection around the tube, if theoretically oil (sorry, motor vapor in his words) sholdn't be coming from there in the first place. Any how, it doesnt seem to affect performance except for that little power loss at around 2000-2500 revs which I'm putting down to the turbo cutting in. Am I right on supposing that? Did I mention I was a motorbike person and my triumph sprint 900 doesn't have a turbo....
thanks again

Well Rory going by your info so far ,if the oil is coming outa that tube with the juberly clips, then it should have no oil at all in it . . .so ta sum up or cut to the chase, i would say engine breather is blocked or needs replacment /and as yer bin orft road could have clogged with dust/check on search . . .think Mondo gave a good description of this offending part, easey ta fix, best oh luck. . .:)

Td4's always leak oil from there, remove the pipe from the manifold and you'll see casting "flash" on the manifold where it was made, get a sharp knife and cut this "flash" off, put a bit of sealant on the pipe and refit.

All turbo diesels leak a certain amount of oil into the intake, its no cause for alarm

 dont be swearing at our ming:D

Thanks guys....
on Monday I'll be taking it in to have the mechanic look at it and if he tells me it's just normal "motor vapor" at least I'll have some more ideas on my side.....
now there's the question of the brief loss of power (lasting about a second) at between 2000 and 2500 revs. Is that me being paranoid? Is that normal turbo lag?
