200tdi turbo hoses/pipes

help turbo experts

I put a 200tdi in my series3, but as you all know a series front panel and an intercooler don't really cooperate in terms of space (especially in LHD vehicles, cuz I also had to transplant the disco's powersteering)
so problem is, what diameter of piping will I be using best. The intercooler is in front of the radiator, I managed to position in such a way that the IC is connected to the intake manifold with the normal rubber hose. BUT, the pipe that will be running from turbo to intercooler has 3or4 bends in it..I have 50mm and 60mm pipe (the exit diameter of the turbo is 50mm)
Should I be using the 60mm pipe to reduce air resistance, or would that only cause a bigger turbo lag and should I therefore stick with the 50mm pipe..

use some flexi steel.Silicone hoses are best

that would require quite some silicon, I thought about doing it the tidy way cuz I found some aluminum welding elbows and these pipes happen to lay around my garage

you would be better useing one piece of pipe as welding causes turbulance within the airflow.I bent some stainless fer me old series...

i didnt fit the inter cooler on mine used the series rad and used the discon intercooler pipes i had to buy anothe 90 degree bend, so i trimed a 90 to get it as tight as i could out of the turbo a long the chassis to the side of the rad with a bit of old exhaust i used then another 90 with the solid pipe with the bend on then used the straight flexy with the kink in but shorted it, "sorry if that dosent make much sence been drinkin" ill get some pics if you want

i had to cut some out of the wing so i made a bit of a guard if your just useing it on the road id of thought you would be ok but off roading your wheel will hit that pipe the air intake pipe go`s straight to my home made snorkle "drain Pipe" i havent got an air box on as some bastard helped them selfs to my left overs out my trail so iv got a k&n stlye filter on the end of my snorkle. the bottom water hose was abit fidly due to the angles the pipes come out but i used to bends with a straight bit of solid pipe to twist the angles round the top hose i used the origeinal hose and thermostat housein.

looks like a good solution, and you havent got any overheating probs with the intercooler left out? But I guess I'll have to keep my IC, already adjusted the front radiator panel so..But about the air filter, a k&n style one on top of the snorkel does fine according to you?

no over heating probs i havent even got an oil cooler or a fan then only time my gauge went up abit was when i was off road and givin it some for quite some time. the inter cooler is to only aid in more power i didnt see the point in spending all the extra time makeing it as mines an off road toy if i was pullin trailer up and down the motorway all day then i would off. as for the k&n the only problem with that is its very noisy it dosent sillence the intake raw at all my mate had the same setup on his but he had an air box init and was much better, but mine got nicked so couldnt do it, if you look on my profile theres a coulpe of pics and you can see most of my snorkle on there. want any other pics of how i did let me know.

I used a 300TDI intercooler and pipework. It is so much easier to fit. I clocked the turbo a little bit for better clearance on everything.
