right im not sure whether the engine with mate up to 200 series gear box so theres a good chance you will need to buy td5 gearbox to, it will be easier to put a complete wiring loom from a td5 for the whole car for ecu etc...also you will need a td5 fuel tank that will take the fuel pump and not forgetting obvious things like the exhuast will be different etc.

Probably be easier to go buy yourself a td5 :D

thanks Becky, it was just a thought to try and make my motor a bit quicker, sounds too complicated, will try other options.

I have put a TD5 and R380 out of a TD5 90 into a DLander. Needed all the loom and ECU from donor. Later swapped for an auto, which brings it own issues. So, yes do able.

Would be easier to source a lower mileage 300Tdi and swap that in.

if you want it to be quicker, fit a larger intercooler tweak the fuel pump and bumb up the boost pressure a tad

when you say tweak the pump and bump boost, how would i do thiese? also it's top end speed i am after for when i drive back to UK i need to be able to sit at 70mph all day long whereas at the moment it will only do that downhill with a prevailing wind, was thinking of fitting a discovery transfer box when i come back in April, will this help with top end? at the mo it has 235/85 x 16 tyres, is it worth looking at bigger?

If its top end speed you want, then i would definately recomend a disco transfer box. The slightly higher ratios 1.22 over 1.41 makes it much more pleasant to drive and will fairly comfortably sit at 70. id stick with the tyre you have on at the moment. I'll try and find a link to the injection pump tuning bit.
