Right, so after close on 6 months of work on my 200tdi 110 CSW (Now DCPU) I finally took her out for a spin up a mountain, for the drive there the temp needle sat at eleven o clock position which i believe to be just right. But while up the mountain in the mud in high range moving slowly she seemed to get a bit hotter ( 1 o clock position ).

My interpretation of this is that the viscose fan isnt playing ball, what do ye think? is there any way of testing it?!

At altitude the air is thinner. So the engine needs to work harder to produce the same effects which increases temperature. On top of that you are moving at a slower speed so less air is incident to the fan so less air is cooling the radiator. The same is true for the intercooler so the air coming in isn't cooling as well- the cooler the air going in- the more efficient an engine.

As long as it doesn't go much higher it's fine. If it does then possibly flush the coolant system.

Are you at a massive altitude? Or are you talking Pennine altitude? Because that isn't high.
