Just a quick one guys, after some opinions here

Originally planned to do the 200tdi conversion to a series 3 109, however plans for that landy have now drastically changed, and the 200tdi is going to be fitted to a series 3 88" instead.

To sort the exhaust/turbo issues on the 109", I bought a 300tdi exhaust manifold and set about separating the turbo compressor from the rest of it to mount on the 300tdi manifold. Now plans have changed and it's half separated with the bolt heads ground off, so I'm most of the way there to getting the turbo mounted on to the 300tdi manifold.

Looking around, steve parker does an exhaust for a 200tdi 109" using a 300tdi manifold, but not for an 88" (assuming thats because its much easier to fit with standard 200tdi manifold)

What would be my best way out of this -

1- Stick with the 300tdi manifold and bodge an exhaust together (possibly using defender/disco 300tdi exhaust and a bit of cut and shut)

2- Revert back to 200tdi manifold and buy pre-made exhaust from steve parker or someone (issues being cost of exhaust and sorting out the turbo housing, trying to remove the studs out of it etc)

3- Revert back to 200tdi manifold and bodge an exhaust together (same turbo issues as above)

Any advice very welcome, trying to get the 200tdi fitted to the 88 in as short a time as possible, so then I can get rid of my focus, so doing lots of advance planning here!

i allways get disco 200 down pipe conversion bit of ebay £70 ish, lift mounts on engine 20mm or so and fit on disco engines own manifold, then weld exhaust up out of bits using small resonator box rather than a silencer ,works for the ones i do

Only advise i can give you is don't use the semi-flexi exhaust stuff... i now run with pretty much no exhaust as it came off whilst off-roading!

How did you get from the 109" to 88" ???

I have got a length of that stuff so I'll bear that in mind!

Also got various bits of Vauxhall Vivaro exhaust, not sure if that's fat enough though so will look into that.

109" is still "in progress" and will be finished "one day" but my plans have somewhat changed, but the gf's uncle is selling a lovely 88" with everything on it to me for £1k with MOT and everything, only issue with it is 2.25 petrol, and petrol is expensive :(

2" works well for the exhaust- that's what i built most of mine from.

If you need any spares for the 2.25 petrol i've got one it bits... though it might end up at the scrappy some time soon. You could always get another 200tdi and drop it into the 88"

To be fair the petrol runs fine at the moment, I'm only replacing it for the 200tdi for economy, and I'm only doing it right now as it will soon be my only 4-wheel transport so I'd rather keep the focus until it's done and running....

the 109" will probably get something a little bit different, thinking 300tdi but that might change yet......let's see what happens next year ;)

there aint alot of difference fitting either engine in series 88 and 109 are the same to the end of gearbox and there isnt anything that i know of will bolt on they all need welding but its esaier than youd think

I think I'll just plod on and use my 300tdi stuff, that manifold points straight down and then hopefully I can use one of these in place of that expensive custom made downpipe and then just cut and shut the rest....

If I was starting again I'd probably stick with the 200tdi stuff but I sold that manifold on a few months ago now so may as well carry on with what I've got, might even work out cheaper

Mine has 300 Turbo & manifold, with defender downpipe with a little dent in it to avoid the engine mount and clamp jointed to a 2" stainless sports exhaust, it's not that noisy even without an exhaust, the turbo does most of the silencing!

Or, use a 3 bolt series diesel exhaust manifold clamped on and fit a 100% standard, cheap as chips series exhaust system, front to back!

Hi when I fitted my 300 I used the standard
down pipe cut half way through and bent to
the required angle and a piece welded in
a length of stainless flexy pipe to the rear of
bellhousing crossmember then standard pipe route
Cheers Stuart :eek::):doh:
