well i bought my 1st disco back in sept 09 with no mot,got it mot'd and it passed with only a few minor points needed doing altho i dont no how it passed as there is rottern sills inner & outer, inner arches and boot floor anyway thought i would use it for a few months to see how the engine runs and the vehicle runs as a whole and the engine is sound so now is the time to start the strip down to rolling chassis and paint chassis and axles also replace all bushes and rusty parts.
when i first bought it.

the whole body shell is going to be grinded up and scrapped but i'll be selling the brand new headlights, bumper, grill, spare wheel carrier and rear seats.
todays progress was slow,i just removed snorkle, bumper, grill and new headlights.

im not sure why youre scrapping the shell - its a hell of a lot worse than mine!

ive already replaced the front inner wings, the sills are getting done next, then some work on the rear beam, and maybe a new boot floor if i decide my lovely flashband reapirs to date are no longer sufficient!

for an early disco it looks ok to me (i have come to terms with rust now btw) :D

so what are you going to be doing with it then since your doing chassie up and scrapping the body , why put mot on it in the first place

as i said previously i got the mot to see how it runs i've had 7 months of driving it and the tax ran out end of march and i didn't want to pay out for tax again.
im putting a space frame on it so the shell is not needed but the doors, glass and spot lights will be kept incase anyone needs them.

yeah i had a feeling that was what you were thinking! :D

its worth keeping what you can tbh mate, there's money in bits like that...

good luck with it!

cheers, sam

cheers mr noisy,i did intend to keep the body where the disco is sitting in the pics and put the rolling chassis in the garage but i've got no way off getting the body off in one go so the plan at the mo is to remove all outer panels, doors and glass then grind off the rest.

Here's a link to a fella on youtube re-shelling his Disco - might be usefull for you when your stripping yours off :)

It's only the first one theres about 6 of em on there I think - hope it helps

:D i see on the top photos you had your front tyres running the wrong way ,when did you realise they were directional? only noticed cos i got recip trials and they look the same and i nearly did the same thing

kevin i realised once i had taken the pic  i should really of checked before lowering it but i was to excited.

chipv8 cheers mate much appreciated.

was out there again yesterday and today.i have stripped interior, spotlights, electric fan, outside front wing panels, rear light cluster, spare wheel and carrier and also noticed more rust.i should hopefully be out there tomorrow with the grinder and removing the body.

its been a while so thought id better start work on the disco again, since april i have been to busy with work so not been out to the landy till today.
As i'm doing this project on my own i thought it would be easier to grind the body off in pieces rather then in one lump.Anyway outer panels, roof and doors have been removed and now im starting to tackle the wiring, all the passenger side wiring has been removed and labelled up.
hopefully during the week the rest of the body will be removed and all wiring disconnected.

anyway i've come to a problem and dont know where to start looking,a long story cut really short.I got stuck in a ford(flat battery) then got towed out backwards, jump started and drove off 10mins down road over heating and alot of smoke of exhuast.by the way the ford was up to bumper.
Having a look under the disco today there was dark dirty water dripping from exhaust back box joint, and still lots of white/blue ish smoke coming out of exhaust.
this ford incident happened about 3 months ago and the disco hasn't been used since.
here's a pic of exhaust.
