wow!!
that is cool!!!

I know what you mean jai, i didnt take it as you slaggin off really, just trying to explain my experiences in the army training grounds where we go every weekend...

but this last pic looks impressive!! wouldn't mind giving it a go as long as with some experienced people to guide me through and of course for a good banter! :)

I might take your offer on at some point, not taking it as a challenge though, but as a good day out, as I think we don't have anything to prove.
It's like, my bike does 195mph... but I dont take her up to take just to show i can lol (if you know what im trying to say..)

where abouts is that place you mentioned?

I get ya. Tthe site is Near Milton Keynes Buckinghamshire a fair old trip for you guys but we could always do a weekend of it mabe laning Saturday then camp then Sunday pay and play. Its on every other Sunday there is a link somewhere. Jai

Well, when I go on steep downhill bits I use lows and of course don't touch the brakes... and if it starts to slide, accelarate and dont touch the brakes ever..

Diff lock, I was told to use only when it's slippery, never ever use it when the ground is solid..

Am I correct on these two sentences?
genuine questions, sometimes I'm overly carefull and like to double check all that I read about with more experienced people.

or is it lows for going downhill on solid ground....
and lows and diff lock to go downhill on slippery stuff?

Sorry, I should have gone into more detail, if I was going downhill I would be using the diff lock, the weight transfer would allow the wheels to slip a little if need be even on hard ground.

Also try to remember you 'cannot teach experience', anyone (with experience) will tell you the same thing, even after many off road sessions you still come across situations that can have you stuck. If you have never been stuck then you are not trying hard enough.

This thread could run for years on what is right and what is wrong and it's all been done before.

I think it was jai-landrover who invited you over to try a course near his neck of the woods, give it ago and you may pick up some tips and teach the more experience drivers on here a thing or two.
