Recently purchased a second hand safari snorkel for my 200tdi defender.
Shocked at how vulnerable the seal is between the wing and the snorkel

I was going to order a Southdown until I found this:
with the fender snorkel your reliant on a good seal between the wing and the snorkel and the wing and the inner flange get either wrong and its useless

i adapted the safari snorkel on my last fender so the hose from the airbox went direct to the snorkel

Great idea WLM. Cheers.
I've got an old disco 300tdi airbox going spare. So I'm thinking about cutting off the side (which includes the 63mm pipe spout).
A friend has offered to plastic weld this to the snorkel. Then a single flexible pipe to the airbox.

Hopefully a simple system with only two joints which will be held with tiger seal and jubilee clips.

Anyone used either of these:

That's why I'm going to buy a Southdown, I can't be asked to mess around. Mine is sealed but every time it gets a bang it moves on the wing/seal.

Fecking tell me about it !!

Nearly trashed me engine last weekend going through a gut ford (water over bonet), smoking white afterwards, air filter was ****ed wet through

I was lucky :D

Paddocks do a good one for £70, its what I have got fitted:

Its nice and strong and bolts on via 5 points instead of the safari's 3. I am gonna test mine before wales tho as I am now a bit paranoid after recent violets experiences by others...

I'll be changing mine to a southdown when I get the cage done.

I bought the paddocks one and then modified to go through the top of the wing on the drivers side, then ran piping to the air box at the front, tis now less exposed but quite a lot of piping under the bonnet . .
