200TDi Central Locking Issue

I have done a search for this problem and none of the threads cover the problem I am now having.

I have had the Diso for a number of years and no problems, until now.

Woke up a couple of mornings ago and the battery was flat.

This was caused by the hazards lights which had been flashing all night.

I did not notice this when using the fob to lock the Disco, but now most of the time, when locking, the little light inside flashes very quickly and the hazards flash continuously.

I first noticed that when unlocking, the hazards didn't flash as usual, but did not worry too much about it.

Now I can't lock the Disco with the fob, due to the flashing hazard problem and I don't want a flat battery in the morning and have to resort to manually locking at night.

Any ideas on what is causing this and how to sort it out would be much appreciated.

The problem seemed to have sorted itself out, hence me not replying to your comment Discool.

However, the flashing light problem is back, intermittently and also have a situation where, when locking and the lights don't start flashing immediately, after a very short time, the Disco unlocks itself and the locks again and the lights start flashing again.

This is pretty puzzling to say the least.

Is the ECU in the driver door actuator, because according to the Haynes Manual Wiring Diagram, there are only the 4 acuators in the doors and does not show anything else?

Hi Gandalf, the ECU is to the left of the glove box along with some other electrical stuff, its a black box with a tv style coax antenna plugged into it, a micro switch at the rear of the drivers door lock barrel along with the fob are the only means of providing a signal to it.

ECUs available on e.bay sometimes just make sure is the same part number as your existing one if u decide to change it.

Eventually, I have been able to pull out the glove box and have a look for the ECU and can't find anything that resembles a black box with co-ax cable plugged into it.

Have seen the micro switch on the drivers door lock.

Can't figure out where else they could have put the ECU.

How I hate elektrikery

i think you need to look up towards the underside of the dash ,the boxes are quite high up there ,held in with 6 or 8mm nuts if i remember correctly
1 box is the window lift ecu box of trickery
the other is the central locking box , usually get wet and fail over time

I so happen to have a box ,and a single button fob ,and the door lock with the micro switch .

If you cant get yours working , ill sell you the above ^ for £20
