Was wondering how one resolves the gearing problem when changing from petrol to diesel ?
My V8 is pulling 70 mph at 4000 rpm so would fitting a disco diesel engine require altering the gearbox or diffs to raise the final drive?

Ta:confused:

You would put the 200TDi s gear box and transfer box in too, im informed the 200TDi wont go strait on a V8 gear box anyways.

And why on earth are you getting rid of a 3.5 V8 for a 2.5 strait 4 diesel? Econimy...right. But think of how much fuel you can get for the conversion cost. You'll miss its speed and its growl.

Thanks for info ...appreiciated:)

Your right about the V8..
trouble is that it's tuned with high compression big valve heads and four branch tubular exhaust manifolds and it sounds like a TVR so very very difficult to drive carefully...but I think I'll stick with it for a while anyway:)

wel, if you want a home for the engine... :-D
I've got an unbuilt spaceframe kit car with a frogeyed sprite plastic body to drop on top and the idea that I was brewing.....well guess what?
Also got a TVR Taimar in bits with a V6 turbo motor so another idea was to sell the V6 and stick the V8 in that, but....................I rather like it in the Landy for the fore seeable future anyway. bub bub bub bub bub bubu bub bub buba bub :)
