2004 freelander radio code ?

Hi, I am the proud owner of a 2004 td4, all is good except for the radio. The docs I received with the car gave a 4 digit code but my unit is the sat nav model and it needs a 5 digit code ! Got in touch with LR who faxed off my details to HQ but they came back with the same 4 digit code I already had.

Does anybody have any sensible/cheap solutions, having to talk to the missus every journey is killing me.

The 5 digit code is the last 5 numbers of the serial number, take the radio out and you'll see the number, its on the side of the unit. Or if you're lucky there should be a sticker on the inside of the passengers glove box lid with a bar code and a number, this is the radio serial number. I said if you're lucky because most people pull the sticker off and bin it not knowing what it is.

Bar code number - 4765BJ045017606
serial number - 45017606
model - BE4765
type - Traffic Pro

Any ideas on what the code might be.
To input the code you can only use the numbers 1-7.

Thanks ausielander but the last 5 digits of my serial No contain a zero, the system will only allow the numbers 1-7 to be input....unless there is a way to input a zero that i'm missing.

When we lost the code to the radio in my wife's Zafira I was able to get another by posting it in here: http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=8

why - is that an engineering code or summat? why only once. does it self destruct if yu try it twice?

think it can lock radio if you try entering too many times
i have quite a few decoder programmes some work better than others

didnt work but seems to work for everyone else i help

Hi, I have the same problem after getting a new engine installed (another story) need code for radio, the instuctions in the book are fora radio completely diferent from the one I have installed, I have the one with sat nav, which I cannot operate either, it came with a CD with felt pen writing on it saying "sat nav cd" I have found a four digit radio serial number on a service document with the hand book but need 5 digit code, would like help aswell, if you have found how to crack the code please let me know, coz silence is certainly not golden !!!

Hi there, i finally cracked mine by adding the number 1 to the 4 digit code i already had. i rang a dealer and was advised to give it a go.....and it worked. try adding it to the start and the end, cant remember which way. good luck.

Thanks for the info I bought my 2005 td 4 in March and have just got it back from the garage MOT, service, new fuel pump broken low power, safety mode etc now all done and all is well except the radio is requesting a code, nothing in the books that came with the car and then read your reply and its in the glove box, cheers much apprecited.

Hi, I have the same problem,would you mind helping me out aswell? I also called a landrover dealer who gave me a four digit code, but I also need a five digit code.
My model number is: be 4765
Serial number: 35010114

If its not a 1 try a 2 etc at the front then at the rear although I don't know how many goes you get before the unit locks or does.it just extend the time between code entry times?

Any ideas on what the code might be?

Radio code 15526

More backwards progress - my radio does not have a code and rarely strays in listening from BBC R4 - I am truly a BOF! but I now have 4 wheel drive again (said this twice), well, really is 2 and a bit wheel drive until the fronts go a slippin!! then its anybodies guess. Speed of response (fast) on the forum leads me to conclude that this is all we does all day!
