Hi All,

I bought a 2003 V6 Freelander about a month ago. There is a load of service history with it however I can't seem to find out when the timing belts were last changed.

I'm new to Land Rovers so I'd like to ask you guys the following..

Do I need to replace the water pump at the same time as replacing the belt (as I have to with my Skoda Superb)?

I skipped over some similar threads on this forum and am I correct in thinking there are other related belts that need to be changed at the same time?

Is there anything else I should be doing / looking at when changing?

Thanks

The water pump is used as a guide pulley for the front timing belt so it makes sense to change it at the same time.
Follow the guide in my signature for how the timing belts may be changed at home without expensive locking tools ;)

Hi Nodge68,

Thanks for your comment. I looked for the guide in your signature and went through every page (all 20) but couldn't find it :(

Would you mind posting up a link for me please? I'd be really grateful.

Also, do you or anyone else on here know of any reasonably priced timing belt kits and water pumps?

Thanks.

That's odd. I can see the guide, well most of it. I'm on my mobile at the moment so bandwidth is limited.
I'll see if I can sort something for everyone to see.

Edit. I've just worked out what you have been looking at. It's not in my post history on here. It's a link to a guide I did on X Power forums some years ago.
My signature at the bottom of every post contains the link to my KV6 timing belt guide ;)

Here's a copy of that link: http://forums.xpowerforums.com/showthread.php?t=60892
