Recently purchased a 2003 freelander 3 door, with only 82,000 kms on it. the engine runs a little rough until it warms up, but gets smooth once it temps up. however i cant get more than 450 kms from a tank! Plus, it really seems quite lacking in power. you can virtually floor it, and no significant performance as a result.

thoughts anyone??

Been monitoring the coolant and oil throughout each day of the past week. no mayo, and zero coolant loss. Done 1,500 kms since buying it.

No signs of oil or coolant leaks. Been in, under and around all the typical places where u would expect to see problems.

Am planning on doing all the filters, plugs n oil this weekend. Also, considering doing the timimg belt and water pump.

You mention the throttle body? Is this a common failure?

63L tank, of which 59L is said to be usable
450km per tank = 450 / (69/4.54) = 34.63km/gallon
34.63km = 21.52 miles/gallon (1 mile = 1.609km)

That seems about right to me. Around town and A roads I get 18mpg. Motorway at best is 28mpg, but thats at a steady 60mph.

Yup
Mine was about 18 - 22mpg too.

Known hidden area for coolant leaks is thermostat and in valley between heads. Not easy to get to either.
