This my first post so hello to you all, if anyone can help with my problem please join in with this thread.

Bit of background - poor starting issue on D2 174000 miles. Read lots and lots of threads on here and currently working through the issue. Started at tank working my way towards injector seals.

Removed fuel pump - (working fine but cleaned anyway)
Removed fuel tank - no damage but had black oil film on bottom of tank  idea's welcome guessing injector seals?
Removed fuel pipes - no damage

ISSUE - Removed filter housing - checked valves

Rear left nearest chassis - empty (no non retun valve) ordered one
Front left - has air bleed valve (dirty) ordered new one

Rear right - found non return valve with rubber cap ??(should this be here)

Non_ret_valve.jpg

Front right - empty

So little confussed, is this a case of non return valve being placed in wrong place or do i need to order one of these with the rubber end on as well

All ideas welcomed

While i'm here might as well ask - oil layer lining fuel tank is that injector seals- I'm on my way to replacing them as well.

Then IMO new injector washers and seals will cure the poor starting

The non return valve must be on the LP(low pressure) circuit so it's good there too but usually it's withinin the feed pipe(left inner)....anyway it's just one of these.

Thanks for clearing that up my thinking was I would do the bits I could do on the fuel system and get someone else to do the injectors (bit beyond me even with the step by step guides).

I'll put this Jig Saw back together and get the seals and washers changed thanks for the help.
