Hi

Wonder if anyone can help a damsel in distress.

My freelander TD4 has got what I can only describe as hiccups. Started a few days ago after I had to run on empty to get to the nearest garage.

It was running on low revs with little power top speed 10-20mph, then sudden burst of power (lasted seconds) then back to little power, really jerky. cannot push the revs at all.

Shepo changed fuel filter as we thought it may have got blocked with running on low fuel. (no cure) But seem to have lots of diesel round top of fuel pump.

Any ideas?????

It sounds a lot like the fuel system is drawing air somewhere.

Failin that, yer injectors are bunged up wiv ****e from the bottom of yer fuel tank, from runnin so low. Just thought, when you filled up again, you tried priming the fuel system with the squeezy jobby under the dash? if you dig out your manual, it'll tell you how to prime the fuel system if you run out of fuel. Basically you have to unscrew the bleed screw in your fuel filter, and pump the squeezy jobby until no bubbles come out. Any white smoke at all?

fuel pumps on these(in tank) are prone to failure when run dry theres no bleed on these as there self bleed but i know this sounds crude but put your ear near back seat on drivers side and get some 1 to put ignition on and listen 4 a buzzing if no noise there is a secondary pump under bonnet try that

The TD4 is a self priming engine and I donlt think it has a squeezy thing - that's the L-series diesel.
