I've been trying to find an uprated altenator for my 200TDi 90. I use it for lamping regularly, with 700W of lighting up front, so the standard set-up struggles a bit, especially if I use the heater fan and wipers as well.

There seems to be 2 "standard" altenators - 45A and 65A and I've heard of people fitting 100A / 120A and even 150A versions. However, I can't find any of these listed anywhere. Does anyone know the relevant part numbers or a good source?

Thanks for any info.

Range rovers have 100 or 120 amp versions, many listed on ebay.
You will have to change the hand as it is mounted the other side of the engine, which is only undoing the long bolts and twisting the ends, no need to dismantle.

Lists 2 types in my rangerover workshop manual
Magnetti marelli model no A127 65 amp
Magnetti marelli model no A133 80 amp

My 200 tdi rangy's got a lucas a127 65 amp on there as i've had it overhauled recently. It dosen't say in the manual if one a direct replacement for the other or if ons for the the v8 and one the deisel.

If i get chance to tomorrow i have a v6 sierra tucked away somewhere and i will have a look an see if its similar too a 200 alt'.
Or look on ebay;)

i replaced one in a 200 last week that had a duff bearing - bit of a rush so had to go to craddocks for a replacement, they didnt have what they called the normal 200 one in stock but sold me one off the 300 which is supposed to be a much higher rating - i didnt bother finding out what it was thou - all you have to do is to change the pulley wheel over as the 300 is designed for the ribbed drive belt, easy to swap

ive fitted a 100amp unit tre. mine failed about 6months back, and trying to find a part number match, only came up with A127. the only one i could find, and also in bristol on ebay was a 100amp unit so i took it. £35 bargain. all i had to do was move the mount around and drill a bigger hole in my original pulley and use my old fan. it works fine now :)

as stated before, ford alternators will fit, just look out for parts A127. the old granada/scorpions/mondeos i beleive were fitted with loads of leccy bits (windows/sunroof/AC etc.) therefore needing a bigger alt.

just get the part number right for yours (think its a lucas part number A127) and keep your eye out. new ones seem expensive! check Ebay.

also check what amp yours is, some daft *unt fitted a 35amp fiesta unit to mine! no wonder it stopped working!
