yes another 200tdi thread lol i know some of you must be getting bored of telling people the same old thing but sometimes the search engine just doesnt deliver all just takes so long lol Anyway my question is this, ive had the conversion from a 19j and by the looks of things the guy who done it has litterally just changed the engine block, so what do i need that is essential to the conversion that cant be used from 19j? ie turbo, pas pump, fuel filter etc... as i still have all 19j apart from block, rad and intercooler.....??

regards Paul P.S HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!!! :screaming_bug_eye_f

Think this needs leaving till everyone is sober enough to get their heads round this. And will deffo need pictures.

You can't do a 200tdi conversion by "just changing the block" so lots more info and pictures if you want sensible replies.

Paul , is a disco engine ? - if so get your ass to HARRY BUCKLANDS hes got 2 discos there with 200s in ( the one is at the top of the yard left hand side ) still with rad in it .

just mean things like turbo, fuel filter, pas pump, alternator the add ons really, these ok to use? like i say the pipe from top of intercooler has to reach to the bulk head to reach inlet, can i get inlet that bolts other way round to reduce distance from intercooler, bearin in mind turbo on top??

Without pictures you're going to really struggle to get anything across - you don't know what you've got under the bonnet, so how can anyone else?
Get some pics uploaded of your setup and I guarantee you'll get sensible answers :)

(Happy New Year, by the way)
Ian.

i have a disco 200 as the engine num 12L but i have a defender manifold with 19 j turbo, but the inlet manifold is facing bulkhead instead of front so can i get 1 that goes other way round, bearing in mind turbo on top so cant use disco one!? thats all i really want to know? and if you can use 19j stuff ok on disco? fuel setup, ie filter etc..,pas pump etc.. alternator etc.., starter motor etc...and turbo? it goes ok just want to know if something has to be discovery and not 19j else will perhaps ruin something lol

A lot of stuff is interchangeable - but I'm surprised the bloke who did your conversion bothered to do that, as it's usually more work to get the old stuff to fit than just to leave the entire Disco lump alone. Certainly things like alternators, PAS pumps, starter motors, fuel filters can all be swapped between engines without a problem. I'm curious to see what he's done with the inlet manifold, turbo and intercooler plumbing though - sounds like a right dog's dinner to be honest.

Look forward to the pics!

turbo bolts on ok, bottom intercooler pipe as normal, top pipe goes along and down the bulkhead end toconnect to inlet, job done lol

looking at pics,, the reason inlet other end is cause alternator is in the way on the disco engine so hose has to go out the back, does it make any difference on how far apart intercooler and inlet are at all???

Not really but you want a straight flow of air which you're not gonna get with your setup. seems like a very complicated cure to a simple problem.

You can buy the modified down pipe for a disco turbo off ebay for not a lot of pounds. I''m not convinced the old TD turbo is upto the job of powering a tdi engine (I may be wrong though)
