2 stroke oil in diesel

Just refueled after fitting the Synergy with new MAF and in cab switch also adding 2 stroke, all local driving with no high speed or Mway. Fuel consumption before fitting the Synergy and adding 2 stroke 29.7 mpg Fuel consumption after 29.8 mpg. Synergy set on 7 and eco mode, new BMW crankcase breather and EGR bypass. Now my question is how do I convince my Wife that the £270 I spent on the Synergy was a worthwhile investment. BUGGER
fitted mine a few mounths ago get 2 to 3 mpg more but that aside its a far nicer car to drive with the synergy fitted :)
 
It may take a few tankfuls of fuel for it all to settle down - the ECU needs to learn the new "map" - I found mine improved with time and after the initial over enthusiastic right foot!
 
That's the thing, it doesn't say on the bottle.

Iv'e Googled it. But it makes no mention on there website.

So, not sure really.

Seeing as how synthetic is normally more expensive, and considered as a better more advanced product if you're using it for mixing with petrol, I think it would tell you on the bottle if it's synthetic.

I would just wack it in the tank - but I would get the Halford's, Asda's, Wilkinson's, Morrison's or Tesco's stuff in future.

Yes, I think your right. It's an old bottle me thinks so will give it a go. So far iv'e used the Halford 2 stroke stuff and after a 100+ miles it does seem to be smoother to drive. It also has EGR bypass and inlet manifold clean up.

You can use mineral, semi-synthetic, or fully synthetic.

Fully-synthetic though, costs a lot more than the other types

Interesting thread, yes - but 5 years old though.

Does not mention BMW by name, but they were the company who ran the tests on the additives and concluded that mineral 2-stroke was most effective.

No-one else that I have seen on any forum recommend using anything other than straight simple mineral 2-stroke.

I personally wouldn't use anything synthetic on account of the various additives never mind the extra cost.

Been runnig mine for 12 months or so now with 300ml of 2 stroke...... defo running far better .... I'm sure this does a great job replacing sulpher lubricant that has now been virtually removed from diesel. Long live the injectors!!!
 
Hi... I have been seeing allot of activity on the forums about adding 2 stroke oil to diesel. Allot of positive comments..... much quieter engines and better mpg. Apprantly cheap 2 stroke is best .... low ash ... don't use synthetic as it does not burn (could effect exhaust)....

My brother is using it in his 03 diesel mondy ..... and has very positive reports mpg gone from 43 to 47 and much quieter with less smoke. He uses 250:1 mix.

I have just filled up my TD4 .... and have put 250ml of Tesco's finest in....will report back.

I know these is an old thread about this ....... I think it is time to revisit.:welcome2:

Freelander tank is about 60 litres so 250:1 is actually 240ml. What's 2 tea-spoonfuls between friends?

I'm working on 200:1 and normally fill up 50 litres at a time so its 250ml added to each fill.

I have a handy little 250ml bottle which I fill from a litre one from Tesco or Halfords and keep in the boot.

200:1 is what is generally recommended, but a little more will do no harm - the engine could run happily on 100% 2-stroke.
