I'm off to wilkinsons tomorrow to get some 2 stroke then a fill up. I have a bit of a misfire at 2000 revs so I'm hoping this, some new hoses and a maf test might shed some light on it :cool2:

Ive been using the Tescos 2 stroke oil. Today went to Halfords with my trade card and bought some of the 2 stroke garden oil £5.99, and guess what no trade discount.

I queried it and was told trade discount does not work on garden oil!

Phoned another Halfords and got it checked. Trade discount is available on the smaller bottle but not the 1L one.

Ridiculous - where's the logic in that?

I think it's all up to the person on the till.

I bought a few things that day and I'm sure I got discount on all of them.

Another problem is you don't know how much discount you're going to get until you actually check out.

It varies item to item.

Strange place - Halfrauds.

just take it to the parts counter and get them to scan it and give you the price....
i just bought an air filter and oil filter for our scenic... standard price was 23.48 for both, trade price was 8.68 :D:D:eek::D

Yes Im happy with the discount (when you get it). I did get the oil checked at 2 different stores and both checked out the same.
Very nice discount of 40% off on their professional tools.

Trade card question....

I used to run a kitcar Owners Club. Told them I wanted to be able to recommend Halfords to our 'Mini-based' kit car owners, ... the Managers eyes lit up, ... filled out the form, ... walked away with a trade card.

Greed and Avarice lives at Halfords!!!

Simples!

now i anit got anythink like that i just do a bit of servicing on my cars and could do with card

Walk into Halford, preferably wearing some old dirty overalls and with a bit of the old EGR gunge under the finger-nails.

You need a photo ID to show them and a few receipts from a Landy Dealer or whatever, and you tell them you are a small self employed mechanic just starting up.

I had only 3 receipts - 2 from the local LR agent and the one from the BMW dealer where I bought my cyclone pcv filter.

Works a treat - or so I'm told Ahem! - I would never think of doing such a thing.

Lubbly Jubbly.

they are really strict on issuing these now....i lost my original one (which they gave me by just showing my payslip from where I work) and refused to give me a replacement til they'd seen my certificates. in the past pretty much anyone in there could authorise a trade card but now it has to be signed off by the duty manager......

Possibly too many self employed mechanics were setting up small businesses.

Oops!
