As title, my 3.9 v8 Disco has just used over a quarter of a tank on a short drive.

Vehicle has steve heath fault code reader fitted and a mark adams tornado chip which means the engine management light actually works. But i got no fault code on the reader and no engine light on.

The exhaust tail pipe is wet inside with a black petrol smell and petrol seems to have got into the oil as that smells of petrol too and the oil pressure has dropped alot.

What could cause this, surely a failed cts wouldn't cause something this drastic...would it?!

Ha, no fuel leaks but over a quarter of a tank in 12 miles is pretty special!

Seems like it's overfuelling so much its washing down past the rings and getting into the oil.

It would only do about 30mph flat out and was running really rough, it stalled at one point and only just re started after being jump started

maybe you should take your plugs out and see if its just one cylinder thats the problem.
maybe one injector is stuck open, if its possible i dont really know, more of a diesel man myself

I would say it was in limp home, the lights are not that reliable.

Could be fuel or water temp sender

My managemant does work properly, the mark adams fuel chip is set up to actually make it work, also the fault code reader says nothing but if i un plug the fuel temp sensor it shows the right fault code.

Would a faulty sensor cause it to over fuel this badly anyway? Seems like the injectors are stuck open and not pulsing at all by the amount of fuel it used.

put ht lead testers on it and they falsh away nicely, all the ignition is mallory electronic and about 6 months old and all seems ok
