Po299 has come up on my 2007 td4 . Engine management light is on ,on the dash. Engine misses a little , and falters a bit when turbo has a demand on it, smokes a little around 3000 rpm. Oil level is correct .I've checked extensively for air duct leaks, found none . Any thoughts on this please ?

That code is almost always an air leak in one of the 4 boost hoses. The common hose to split is the one directly below the throttle body, but any are subject to splits as they deteriorate with age.

Ok nodge, thanks for that ,I'll have another look after the storm has gone over here in mosterton west dorset. I thought I would clean up the egr valve as well.not sure if that is associated with the fault code , but would be good to check it out . I found a bit of oil in the air hose that runs from the air cleaner at the back of the engine, just left of that section that has the 4 different length turrets in it, (any idea what that strange looking bit is for ? ) do you think the oil in the hose is a problem? Many thanks ,, jerry.

Do you mean you've left off the cross pipe between the air filter and turbo feed tube? Doing so will set a code, as the MAF won't register air flow going onto the engine. All hoses and pipes must be leak free, both before the turbo and after it.
The organ pipes (they are resonance chambers) are designed to reduce intake noise using resonance to cancel noise out.

LR decided it wasn't an issue after 2011, so fitted a cheaper straight pipe instead.

Oil in boost system is normal, it comes from the breather circuit.

Ok great, no , the hose has always been fitted , I just took it off to see if it were damaged or leaking at the joints . Im trying to look after this car as i really like it and i dont use supermarket fuel. Once again mate, thanks very much. Ill let you know how i get on . Jerry.
