Just picked up a 2005 tdv6 sport with only 74k on the clock.
I have a running issue with the car and its quite hard to describe. When you drive the car it seems to hesitate every few seconds as if theres a tiny misfire, the rev counter also fluctuates at the same time. It does this when accelerating and even when off the throttle and costing.

At the same time the issue happens there is a tiny squark like noise.

I cannot replicate the problem with the car stood still. It revs and idles fine.

The only fault codes I had were for the egr. I replaced one as i had a good second hand on in the shed. I also blanked them both just to make sure, but no difference.

The only fault code i have is P140A whcih is related to the left hand egr (didnt change this one) but shouldnt matter as its blanked off.

Any ideas?

I'm guessing it's an auto? With the EGRS blanked, you should get a temperature too low fault but this doesn't generally show on your basic ginerric code reader.
Faults like these often require the engine live data to be recorded so that later analysis is possible.
At a guess, I'd start by looking at the LP fuel delivery pressure which should be about 7 PSI. Also measure the LP pump current which should be about 9 Amps.

Hi im reading it with my snap on ethos but a friend has autologic for JLR and that didnt show up a temperature fault when i read it yesterday.. Ill have a quick look at my LP pump reading and get back to you in 10 minutes

LP pressure needs to be read at the test port. There's no LP sensor fitted. The test port is located just above the HP pump, sometimes hidden under the engine cover. It's protected by a grey Schrader value cap. A low pressure tyre type gauge often works ok for pressure measurement. You should get a steady 7.5 PSI.

Ah sorry i know what you mean. I though there was a digital readout as well. Im waiting on a few o-rings for my fuel tester as i just found mine is leaking badly.

I have since de blanked the egr's and replaced the fuel filter. I now have no codes at all but still the same issue

Thanks for posting what the issue was. At least it has been diagnosed.
It Just goes to show though, low mileage examples aren't always best.
