Are 2.4 TDCi Puma 110 2011 generally noisy engines and turbo whines normal on low mileage? Only driven 109 2a and TDi 300 Before. C

Yes they are a generally noisy and unpleasant engine to listen to,its a mass produced unit built down to a price to meet various emissions and performance targets - nice is not one of the parameters built into that equation.....

Got Defender checked out by Dormobile and SHB 4x4 Group who have over 10,000 Land Rovers... They said its fine, no leaks, not the noisiest they have heard.

Now that's an interesting conversion. I know I'm being nosy, but do you have any interior shots with the top up? I'm interested in how everything is arranged inside.

Thats a Dormobile conversion, mainly carried out on VW's but they do lots of other vehicles, not actually that hard to do yourself...

Thanks, will upload some interiors in a few weeks. Its going back to Dormobile to have cargo bay kitchen unit, water tank in wheel arch fitted on one side and a new custom spec bench/sofa seat that turns into a double bed with lots of storage underneath. What makes it different from their normal conversions is that we are keeping the Defender's 5 seats, ie second row. They have come up with a great idea, which can easily be fitted or removed and maximises the space. So will end up being able to sleep four.

The quality of the roof conversion is stunning. They now use all stainless steel or plated parts and its very solid. Dormobile are a pleasure to work with and have some great engineers working there, they are also part of SHB which are massively into Defenders and the owner is a Series One nut/collector.

PS The roof is not identical to the VW one they do, they are also selling and shipping lots of their Land Rover tops to the US at the minute, two this week I believe.

I wouldnt trust anything shb say. Theyre too big to care. And some of ours are right dogs.

Thanks... It was one of the guys at Dormobile who rebuilds engines that had a look at it... Do you hire a lot from SHB? Have done myself over 12 months and the vehicles seemed fine.

Are you going to do any chassis/body corrosion protection ? Just asking as it looks like you are building a nice rig there,LR's childrens poster paints seem even more useless now - shame for it to rust after all the work/cost to build it.

Our whole fleet comes from them;Landies, various configations of transits and various smaller vans.
