Can someone please explain how / what the fuel cut off solenoid works/ does on a 2,25 weber carb? (other than obviously cut the fuel supply off!!!:D)

I've had problems with the 110 suddenly running roughly coughing and spluttering, the general concensus is that the floats are sticking and there isnt enough fuel in the carb so I started to strip the carb down to refurb it and noticed that the fuel cut off solenoid was loose and it took about a full turn to tighten it back up. Would a loose solenoid cause the same running problems??

cheers

sorry didnt mean to be a pain. I had searched before posting but only came up with threads about diesel fuel cut off solenoids.

Just to finish the thread for anyone searching the forum with the same problems in the future, the problem was the fuel mixture solenoid which is on the left hand face of the carb if you are sitting in the cab.

Replaced it today and the Landy is back to normal:5bhurray:
