I have been fitting the accelerator linkage from the pedal to the carb, and doing this I pushed the pedal a few times to test (with the engine off).

I can see some fuel escaping from the Weber carb. I had seen this previously and had carefully replaced the diaphragm, using a bit of sealant on the edges. I don’t think it is leaking from the edge of the diaphragm.

Where do you think the fuel is leaking from and what can I do about it – with this amount of fuel, I don’t think I can test run the engine again, as I don’t want any fire ruining my hard work.

do you mean you replaced with a new diaphragm, or used the old one with sealant?
it looks like it could be leaking, they can split and/or go porous. spray with some carb cleaner and get it nice and dry, then operate the pump by hand and hopefully you'll see a telltale

I replaced it with a new one

It does look like its coming out at the diaphragm area.
As above give it a clean so its dry.
We cant see the top of the float bowl seal.
You say "engine off" but did you turn on ignition to prime (Do you have electric pump).

i have the original mechanical pump.
Now that i have started investigating, it has stopped leaking. I am sure it will come back soon!
