Hi guys so bought a range rover dse, bought it knowing the fault, the truck intermittantly cuts out not all the time just a few times a day at low speeds such as stopping at a junction, fine at high revs motor way etc, starts back up straight away.

The previous owner took it to a garage who diagnosed it as the injector pump, although there is no management light on he said they scanned it cleared something and it didn't do it again for a week so I can't understand how it can be the pump as it's no that technical but open to the idea

I am taking to a landrover specialist next week who will try and diagnose it but in the meantime any suggestions would be appreciated thanks

Also check Number 4 injector. I'll get shot down for this but mine did the same thing and turned out to be the 4th injector had been butchered (the wire coming out had been poorly crimped together) this caused mine to stall at low revs changed it and hasnt done it since (about 5months ago)

Your static timing must be way out then. Number four injector controls pump timing not fuel. If a quantity servo fault occurs the ECU closes the stop valve that is what causes the stalling 99% of the time.

I'll check but I td to agree with the others as I never get lucky lol, what's this best option then with the pump is a used one just a waste of money and how long do they usually change to change as it will give me a rough price for someone to do it

Exchange pump is around £600.00 from Diesel Jones in Manchester changing it will take about four hours or so.

Is this to do with mine or the poster of that quote

I seem to remember a post that claimed it was a worn end stop for the quantity servo causing the problem, the poster eliminated the notch in the end stop and cured the problem. Need to be pretty handy to do it though.

Any idea what he did and have you got a link to his post on here thanks I am fairly hang think I could change it myself if I got the tool to hold the chain up it's just the timing that worries me changed a headgasket on a 320d with a timing chain but I know the timing has to be within a 1/1000 of an inch, do you think though that if I fitted one an expert would time it up for
