Because no Sport bits will fit your P38. If you want to resort to original, then any P38 parts. Beyond that you're on your own.

If you're good with a dremel and filler, then any Sport bits can be bodged to fit.

So there is a big body difference between 1995 and 1996 then ?
That 1996 has been cut about and fettled to get the parts to fit....no one does a P38 to Sport conversion kit that bolts on - you have to start cutting the framework and bodywork of the P38 to try and get the bits to fit...

Which is why we say it is cost prohibitive and will cost thousands to do....

I'm sure I said ANY P38 parts. So from 1994 through to 2002. Parts from the latter end of the scale (namely lights) cost more. If you mean Sport parts, then the difference was light night and day. They will not fit at all without bodging your vehicle. Don't forget to inform your insurer of this or it will invalidate it should you need to claim.

Well that told me. And I picked up the p38 real cheap there's a 1996 on eBay for £4k looks proper job. I quite like the look of the front end and as mine has been bodged I need to do something with it.
With no previous range rover knowledge it's a project.
And thanks for all the comments but not one of you gave me the info I required as to which years bits will fit my p38 1995

i only paid 4k for a 2001 Vogue!

DONT DO IT!!!!!!

there isnt a year that will fit. as others have said, you will need a lot of body alteration, fabrication of non existing parts, cutting, welding, electrics, alarm bells, blood sweat and tears.

it just isnt worth the hassle. you might as well just make it look origonal and it will be a lot better.

the wings dont match the bumpers, the lights dont match the bonnet, the fixings are all over the place, wrong type of bulbs, risk of MOT fail, insurance coverage. where do we stop?

I once picked up a really cheap Breitling watch from Thailand.....
He promised me it was real....

I dont think you will get much sympathy here. Most are P38/RR enthusiasts who will keep them original to maintain market value and because they brought a P38 because its a P38.

The amount of time spent on butchering a P38 to make it into a sport makes no sense. You could quite literally buy an early 4.4 sport for the price you're going to pay in the end. So why didnt you? The engine will be far more reliable as will the rest of the car than a P38.

Instead you're wanting to drive around in a statement that says, "look i brought an old range rover because I can't afford a proper sport -but i did my best to make it look like a sport!"

If you're still hell bent on doing this then do google some conversions and see how bad it really looks when nothing matches up. Then google some up coming MOT regs which means some of the body parts fitted may mean the vehicle will no longer pass an MOT.

Then think of the resale value, if you, for aguments sake, brought it for 4K, spent 4K on it, you will sell it for 1K if your lucky (Heavy petrol engine, bodywork and framework hacked to bits, destroyed a potential classic). Even with my maths that's a loss of 7K?

Dont know about you but I haven't got that money to throw away....

Plus once you let your Insurance know you've ruined a P38 to make it look like a Sport, a Sport would be massively cheaper to insure. When I was looking at vehicles, a Sport was only a couple of hundred more than my P38. So what sort of derp would go "nope, I don't want the cheaper option of a Sport which will help me maintain some streetcred. I want to ruin a P38, pay more to ruin it and insure it, plus have all the hunnies laugh at me for being a derpaderp"?

I've heard seen of overfinch, but underpigeon is the new crazy you got to be under 25 surely .

I am going to try and make that stick. Every time I see a bastardised P38 I'm going to say "that is an Underpigeon." See how long it takes before it becomes common practise. Urban Dictionary, here I come!

I am gonna register that name 'Underpigeon'....
