Good work so far. But does the engine really need a wire brush down? When I swapped mine in, the engine from a 91 disco was filthy, but a 2litres tub of gunk degreSNt saw the original block gold paint looking almost new again...

I'll start with last weekend progress and then show tonight's tomorrow.
Started to strip back the rust on the bulkhead:

Cleaned the engine a bit more:

Got the pistons and seals in the callipers:

Got the bellhousing on the gearbox:

Not much to report at the moment, I had an afternoon spent on the car the other day but having to revise for exams. Got the inlet and exhaust manifold off and started to clean the engine. Not sure whether to paint it or leave it when I've wire brushed it? Once the cleaning is done, it just needs the rear oil seal doing and then it can go back in :)

Clean the engine off and spray it the same colour as the landy, :D

Yours is certainly flying together, Once my AS exams are over in 6 weeks, every hour of the day will be spent out in the garage until it's finished. Until then, It's just the odd hour or two in revision breaks that I get on it

Hi,

What a great project! Some really great work so far, you have a real talent. I am in a similar situation being 16 with exams creeping up on me which is delaying working on my defender but I can't wait to start working on it after the exams!

Keep up the good work!

Tom

Bit more done today:

Got both footwells painted in black:

Clutch master cylinder on the bulkhead:

Two pedals on now :) Interesting lining the holes up as I had a new footwell welded partially on top of the old one so the hole were not lined up so I had to drill bigger holes and fill with chemical metal (Not ideal)

Transfer box and gearbox together, Couldn't get them to line up but I'm going to try lifting one with the hoist to make lining it up easier

GOOD NEWS! Theory test is booked. One step closer to driving the landy :bounce:

nice and good thread! :)

do me a favour and have a look where the earth point is for the dash.. i still haven't got around to sorting mine out. you can save me from taking everything apart ;)

edit: elso, i noticed you redid your tbox.. but i couldn't see if you fitted xdrilled or the plate to lube the splines? if you haven't, then do it.

Brake pipes at last- Finally got the tool, WELL, two actually. Not realising that one didn't do double flares, I ended up buying another one but I am happy with the flares so that's all that matters :) The long run of pipe from the g valve to the rear t piece has been bent too much so may need replacing, not sure what to do yet.

The tools:

Caliper pipes done:

Master cylinder and servo painted and master to g valve pipe made up:

Can someone tell me if I have got the servo the wrong way around and if I have, will it make any difference if I leave it that way?
