No more pictures but got all the brake pipes finished this evening and got the first stage of bleeding done (As well as my head after hitting it on the chassis). With brakes nearly done it feels like I'm getting somewhere :)

As you may have seen in another of my threads, I cant get the engine to sit right as I think the mountings may be wrong. Might be able to get the gearbox and transfer box in today and take the sump off to do the sealant.
 
I had similar problems. In your last pic if you loosen the nut holding on the mount to allow it to float until it locates the slot/hole. I noticed some mounts are supplied m10 and m12. I had to tickle my gearbox mounts out slightly for the m12
 
Trax: I Just had a quick look but its a bit dark, couldn't find any earth locations? Where would it be? Is there an earth coming off the ignition barrel?

Another update:

Cleaned all the sludge out and resealed the sump - One of the least enjoyable jobs on the landy :(

Spent the rest of the time connecting the engine up and working out all the wiring which is a complete maze being a converted 200tdi

Painted the fuel tank today and got it fitted. BUT I made a BIG mistake. While fitting, I had one of the bolts in my mouth with a washer on the end, what happened was the washer fell off the bolt and straight down the filler pipe into the tank. :clap2:

So now another job on the list is to remove the washer somehow, unfortunately being stainless, a long magnet won't work.

I don't know the 90 fuel tanks at all - but it looks a lot like my aux fuel thank on the 110 under the passenger seat. On mine the filler comes off and my arm fits inside, or the breather/fuel return fitting comes off and you could turn the tank upside down.

Or am I guessing it's fitted and you don't want to remove it again?!?

You going from V8 to 200 TDI? I think I have located a new dash from a donor 110 sitting round the corner here. Think it's been dumped, I'm watching it closely. I'll get my dash totally off, strip back all the left in wiring and put the 'new' dash on. Can't wait to get rid of all the old wiring that seems to go no where!!

Really jealous watching you put this thing together, would love to strip mine down and rebuild it without the mess - if I get mine back to UK you can help me move the steering wheel over to the other side.
 
Not much to report from today. Got the fuel pipes on, wiring connected up. Got a few more days of exams and then after that I will get the engine running.
 
Got the gearbox, transfer box and diffs full with oil. Slight leak from the transfer box but that was due to a couple of bolts not tightened up :doh:

Got the power steering pipes and reservoir connected up.

Got steering arm on etc, and bolts in steering box tightened up, put new oil seals in diffs.
Transfer box oil seals next plus gaskets and then bolt iy up to my 380 gearbox, just hope 380 fits on to 200 bell housing ok.
Waiting for rear crank oil seal as britpart one is leakin...... shock!!! :(:rolleyes:
 
I originally bought a britpart rear oil seal and then immediatley thought better of it and bought a genuine, you can tell the difference! Last exam is a week on thursday so after that should be running pretty quickly.
 
It's been a real treat to read through your thread. It's an amazing achievement. I learned how to change the shoes in drum brakes about 38yrs ago, watching my dad. That was enough to trigger my love of mechanical engineering. So, well done your dad too!
My sons are doing their A and AS exams like you at the moment. Are you getting enough revision done? I probably sound worse than your dad :)
But, I recall several pages ago on your thread, you saying you were leaving the Landy until revision and exams were over. You've put some hours in on it since then :rolleyes:
 
Plenty of revision getting done :p Revise up till 4:30 then landy time after that :)

Connected all the pipes up but will have to come off again so I can lift the engine to change the mounts which I'm still waiting for :mad:
