Was going to use RAL 5002 but looks way too light when sprayed. Fortunately my neighbours don't seem to mind too much but it still smells out there. Yep, painted in the garden without a gazebo, not ideal but it turned out alright.

I did my last one in the garage and my neighbours still didn't like it.

Did one in a gazebo the year before and it was much better, Well I could actually see what I was doing for a start.
Far to dark in the garage.
Might as well have done it in the gazebo because they still complained :(

Have you ended up with much crap in the paint (flys etc) due to no "booth" if you like.

I didn't get any flies on it I don't think but the main problem was the wind and spraying the inside of the tub just meant the paint fumes and dust was just blown straight back in my face.

Good stuff then :)
Dust is a nightmare to control. I always end up with some in my paint.
Luckily it's a landrover and I'm not that fussed.
I just usually wet the floor to try and control it a bit.
Not that it'll help you as you don't have any sort of wind break.

I have an absolute nightmare spraying in my workshop, being on a farm there is dust and flies everywhere and for some reason the flies have taken a liking to my primer and make a mess all over it so I have to do even more prep work 😩

Ok so went sailing this morning so only worked on the car this evening. Got the van sides on and attempted to bleed the steering only that it ran out of diesel after a couple of minutes then the engine wont start at all, not even cranking so will investigate tomorrow with a fully charged battery. Not sure what the problem is as it just suddenly stopped.

Have been securing the tub and seatbelt brackets as well as the fuel filler. The engine troubles yesterday are still a mystery, tried turning over this morning but only worked with a wire straight to the solenoid. Got some diesel this afternoon and the key worked first time :/ A few problems with the engine but I'll start a new thread rather than clogging this one up with that. Also test fitted the seat as well as all the floor panels.

First thing before it got too hot or windy was to paint the bulkhead.
Next, postman arrived with the lights so sorted out the wiring into the bulkhead- Need to buy some more lucas connectors. Fitted the right hand lights and they all work with 12V but with their respective switches is another matter. :(
Rubbed down the windscreen and primered it before I ran out of thinners so paint will happen tomorrow and then hopefully may get the roof on :)

All of the lights on the back are on and the indicators work, side lights work but brake and reverse and fog light don't. Reverse is a bad connection I think and the fog light switch isn't working and the brake light switch needs changing.

Got the windscreen frame, vents and windscreen hinges painted this morning and then put it on this afternoon. Once the windscreen was on, put the roof on but with all the work on the bulkhead and chassis, it doesn't fit properly but it still needs painting and it was just to protect the car from the rain at the moment.

Are they series van sides as i have been told they won't fit a 90

It has been a case of 1 step forward, 10 steps back today. Put the roof on yesterday and didn't fit properly at the front and this may be due to the amount of welding that has been done on the chassis. So I spent the WHOLE day just getting the roof to fit. This was done with a mixture of taking the side panels out and putting another layer of foam tape on the tub, jacking the tub up, pulling the bulkhead forward with a strap and winding the roof down with bolts. I am just relieved that it finally fits. Unfortunatly at some point it will have to come off again for painting but that will not be for a while until I've sorted the rest of the car.

Also test fitted the passenger door and surprise surprise it doesn't fit. The drivers door needs a new bottom welding in but I think the whole door is past it.

Haven't done much in the last two days as I've been preparing for to go to a sailing event in France on Thursday. Anyway, set about repairing the cut in the passenger wing. Used chemical metal to fill the cut and then filler on top.

Also put the back door on and catflap tailgate. At least I didn't paint them as I don't think it looks right and doesn't make it easy getting things in and out of the back. Not just that, being from a series, they don't fit particularly well.

The alternator seemed to be making a noise so I checked it and it's not charging the battery so I've taken it off for the moment and I'll open it up when I get back from France.
